Born in the Italian city of Bologna form an American father and an Italian mother, Sofia moved to New York when she was five. She attended school in NYC, spending all her summer break at her grandparent's house in Italy.

In the 2008 summer, when she was seven years old, Sofia casually listened to an errant Italian singer and was amazed by his voice and his stories of love and emigration. In that moment, her dream was born — to share her voice with the world and bridge the cultural gaps with the universal language of music.
